The Viewing...

We were fortunate enough to be able to make it to President Hinckley's viewing today. Ben was called off of work, so we went for it. Laura (my sis) and her husband Russ also had the same plans, so we went together and made a day of it. I packed tons of snacks, thinking we'd be in line for hours. I was way off...we walked through without much waiting at all. It was a neat experience. I never was able to meet or see him in person when he was alive, so it was really special to be able to be in the same room as him before he was buried. I wish I could have met him, like many other people, I'm sure. He was such an amazing man. There was a peaceful feeling as we walked through the room where he lay. Not many were crying, however tears came to my eyes as I walked by him and realized just how real it was that he's gone. I'm happy he is reunited with his wife and on to even better things in heaven. It was a great experience. This is one thing I am going to miss about Utah when we move, is being close enough to be able to do things like this at the drop of a hat.

That is so awesome that you were able to do that. I wanted to go but it's a bit of a hike from Virginia. I imagine that would have been such a wonderful, spiritual experience.

That is so neat to be able to do that. I never thought of them having a viewing open to the public, it must have gone on for a couple of days. It was nice to see the funeral today. What a great person he was, and what a wonderful life to celebrate.

We were able to watch the funeral today and I didn't realize exactly how much he'd done during his presidency. I didn't know that over 400,000 missionaries had been out during his time as prophet and that I think 35 temples had been constructed. He was such a great prophet. That's so nice that you were able to go to the viewing.

That is so great that you were able to go. What a special experience that would have been. It really is neat the opportunities we have here in Utah. I wish I could have gone... I just could make myself brave the lines by myself with the girls!

What a wonderful experience. That is one of the things I miss. I am glad you were able to go with laura as wel. What a perfect way to say goodbye.
I was able to watch his funeral on BYU TV online since we were asleep during his funeral and at church during the rebroadcast.
