Happy Mother's Day

I'll be honest (and risk looking like a loser) and just say that I was feeling a little down yesterday when Ben had to work all day long on Mother's Day. Maddie noticed I was a little sad and put me in my place. Here was our conversation:
Maddie: Why are you sad Mommy?
Me: Because Daddy has to work all day long and it's Mother's Day :(

Maddie: Maybe next time Daddy will be home on Mother's Day. (she likes to reassure me)

Me: I know, that would be nice.

Maddie: Daddy has to work a lot so we can have some money to pay for our house, food, and our clothes...

Me: You're right, he's a nice Daddy.

As you can see, she is our second little Mommy. Despite feeling sorry for myself, I realized just how lucky I am to be a mother. I have a great husband and two wonderful kids. I'm so extremely blessed and thankful for my own mom as well. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

Ben 'tried' to surprise me with an apron I've been wanting. He actually picked it out himself. My friend Michelle makes these handmade aprons and they are so dang cute. Click here or here to see more.

It's reversible!(Please excuse the blurriness--they are a product of Maddie)

The apron looks adorable on you Cindy! I am glad that you like it. I sorry that Ben wasn't there to celebrate Mothers Day with you (marc had to go out of town yesterday...so I know how you feel...its kinda a bummer).

Michelle's cousin Liz was in my Boston Ward. Small world. I'm thinking I need to get my hands on a little apron too!

How cute that Maddie can take your picture and help contribute to the blog! She's beyond her years for sure!

Ahh! I miss you guys so much and I'm in desperate need of girl's night! What are you doing this weekend? Wanna come to Canada! Your apron is so cute. I'm impressed with Ben's taste. Way to go Ben! Have you decided on a house or renting? We need to talk!

I love the apron! My monther-in-law got me a really cute one last yr for mother's day, but I always forget to wear it. I'm just not an apron-wearer. I feel bad that Ben had to work on your special day :( If it makes you feel any better, I would have been feeling really sorry for myself too. Good thing Romie's not old enough to put me in my place when I throw myself a pity party :)
