Spicin' up meal time

My sister told me about a friend of hers that started making 'food faces' for her kids to get them to eat lunch. I tried it the other day and it was a hit...and the possibilities are endless! Maddie is still talking about it.

I also decided to try something new for dinner a few days ago and made some banana pancakes like the Jack Johnson song "Banana Pancakes". Afterwards we listened to the song, while the kids boogied. It was a fun way to spice up dinner without dad.

(Note: No- Camden does not wear this shirt everyday (see previous post)...it was the same day)

Here's to my buddy...

Cam was being so cute this morning, posing all by himself--so I had to capture and share the moment. He's wearing his 'I Heart NY' t-shirt to celebrate our upcoming trip together. Just he and I will be heading out to New York to look at houses next week. It should (hopefully) be a fun, quick trip together...full of bonding. Wish us luck!

Would you buy this?

Most of you know that Ben works on wrecked cars, to make some money on the side. Well, this one has recently been added to our collection. I should have taken the picture before he started working on it--it was way worse looking. It's kinda scary buying a car off the Internet, after only seeing a few pictures of it. Actually it's very scary (for me). Luckily, this one came with only a little over 100 miles on it, score! Anyways, he amazes me by how talented he his. I'll have to post a picture of his finished product.
(If this car looks a little familiar, it's because we now own 2 Ford Edges, both white. We got a few worried looks from our neighbors when we brought it home. They thought we'd been in a bad accident. Anyways, I'm hoping one of them will be coming with us to NY.)

Primary Scripture

Maddie volunteered to do the scripture in Primary this last Sunday. She was so excited about it all week long. When it came time to actually recite it, she froze a little, but got it with some help. What a proud moment as a parent. Here she is before church, showing us that she does know it without help. (pause the music, so you can hear her)

Happy Mother's Day

I'll be honest (and risk looking like a loser) and just say that I was feeling a little down yesterday when Ben had to work all day long on Mother's Day. Maddie noticed I was a little sad and put me in my place. Here was our conversation:
Maddie: Why are you sad Mommy?
Me: Because Daddy has to work all day long and it's Mother's Day :(

Maddie: Maybe next time Daddy will be home on Mother's Day. (she likes to reassure me)

Me: I know, that would be nice.

Maddie: Daddy has to work a lot so we can have some money to pay for our house, food, and our clothes...

Me: You're right, he's a nice Daddy.

As you can see, she is our second little Mommy. Despite feeling sorry for myself, I realized just how lucky I am to be a mother. I have a great husband and two wonderful kids. I'm so extremely blessed and thankful for my own mom as well. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

Ben 'tried' to surprise me with an apron I've been wanting. He actually picked it out himself. My friend Michelle makes these handmade aprons and they are so dang cute. Click here or here to see more.

It's reversible!(Please excuse the blurriness--they are a product of Maddie)

I'm not worried.

I'm not worried that Maddie is racist. Today while picking out a movie at Redbox, she saw 'Over Her Dead Body" and yelled..."I love that movie because it has a white girl in it!"

I'm not worried that Cam is too feminine. I recently bought both kids a lawn chair. Maddie's chair is pink and Cam's chair is blue. He ALWAYS wants to sit on the pink one. And lately I've found him doing Maddie's hair in the bath tub.

I shouldn't be worried, right??

Name that song...

Is this a Primary song? Maddie keeps singing it and I don't know if she made it up or it's some version of another song. I'm guessing it's made up but you be the judge.
